The Soumaya Museum is without a doubt one of Mexico City’s most impressive and iconic architectural landmarks. Its sci-fi like appearance makes it one of those photo locations you don’t want to miss!
The museum itself is a 6 story building that houses art from all over the world and even though it is amazing, the fact that its “free entry” means it’s always incredibly packed with people…..In all honesty that made it very hard to enjoy. We went one afternoon and it was impossible to shoot because the outside was “covered” in people… literally hundreds of people were relaxing and sitting on the stairs, similar to a colony of ants swarming the place. I had always wanted to create some epic photos in this amazing location so we planned a sunrise photoshoot on the assumption that would be alone and fortunately when we got there, we had the whole area to ourselves for a couple of hours before people started arriving for work at the nearby office blocks and obviously before the museum opened and the hoards arrived. As the sun rose and spread its rays across the armour of the building, we were treated with a natural light show as the beams of light reflected off the metallic panels like a disco ball. It was truly spectacular
